Taylor + Joel’s Black Hills Wedding

Taylor and Joel had the most beautiful spring wedding at Diamond Spur Events in Keystone, South Dakota. Driving into this venue was an absolute dream as you take the winding roads through the rugged Black Hills and get to take in all of the incredible scenery. Nestled amidst rugged rock formations and expansive grasslands, Diamond Spur offers a picturesque setting that embodies the essence of natural beauty and timeless romance.

My experience photographing Taylor and Joel’s wedding here was nothing short of amazing! The venue director, Maja, went above and beyond to serve not only the couple, but to make sure all of us vendors were taken care of. The attention to detail from her and all of the staff members was outstanding & something many of us talked about for days following the wedding! I’m already itching to work with them again!

Vendor Highlight

I do have to highlight two of the incredible vendors from the day because they are truly what brought it all together!

Full-Service Wedding Planner: Wynter Childers with Created By Wyn

The biggest reason I was chosen to be a part of this day was because of Wynter! We became vendor friends back at a wedding retreat back in 2021 and after realizing how similar our approaches are on a wedding day and how well our values in the wedding industry align, we knew we would make a great team! So when Taylor and Joel said they were looking for a creative and fun photographer who puts an emphasis on capturing documentary moments, Wynter reached out to me because she knew it would be a perfect fit!

Everything she did behind the scenes to design and plan this wedding all paid off when I saw it all come together. If you’re looking for a wedding planner who is intentional, original, creative and fun, you NEED to reach out to CBWYN!

Event Design + Florals: Kayly with Neithernor Collective

Another incredible vendor to work with was Kayly with Neithernor Collective. This is the first wedding I got to officially work with Kayly, and I was SOOO impressed with everything she did!! The florals were beautiful and the design was incredible — her & Wynter make the most amazing duo! Their ability to work together to bring a couple’s aesthetic & design to life is absolutely amazing!

While yes, she is a florist, she is also a designer and she creates ART. Plus she is so freaking fun to be around — I just loved working with her all morning!!

Why Your Vendors are Important

Taylor and Joel really wanted to sit back and enjoy their day, which is why they took the time to hire such intentional vendors. Good vendors can make or break your day, & with this team, we were unstoppable! Because both Wynter and Maja’s teams had such a handle on things, I was able to focus solely on my own job, which is documenting with purpose. I got to take a step back and really watch what was going on in front of me. I got to notice the way the light on the ceremony florals cast the most beautiful shadows on the days. Or how Taylor’s mom watched her lovingly from across the room as she laughed with her bridesmaids and got ready to put on her wedding dress. Or even how during cocktail hour, Joel shared a special moment with his Grandmother that resulted in tears from the both of them and nearly no one else was around to notice.

I got to step back and do the job that I am SO passionate about, and it resulted in the most beautiful, emotional, soul-giving images that truly tell the story of Taylor and Joel’s wedding day.

While this is only about 10% of their final gallery, I hope this tiny peek into their day gives you an idea of what an intentional day run by intentional vendors can look like. And how when you just let go as a client and trust your vendors to give it their all, this is what it results in <3

So enjoy this gallery from Taylor and Joel’s wedding at Diamond Spur in the Black Hills of South Dakota!
